Its various models have 3 to 6.6 inches of 7, 5, or 3 lbs/ft memory foam over 3 to 9 inches of support foam. (See memory foam density: higher vs lower to learn about the characteristics of different densities.)

THE RETAILER: Sleep Science is often available only online, namely at Costco.com. See buying a bed online: what to know.

THE COMPETITION: Main competiton is likely Novaform – also sold at Costco. See how Sleep Science compares to competition in the memory foam bed ratings – summary.

Sleep Science Mattress Ratings

The ratings – based on 330+ consumer reviews gathered using an unbiased, accurate methodology – show how Sleep Science mattresses compare to the average mattress.

Owner satisfaction for everyday adult use C+ Sleep Science memory foam beds overall have 76% owner satisfaction. Learn more.
Owner satisfaction for limited adult use or everyday child use C For limited adult use (e.g., guest, temporary use) or everyday child use, owner satisfaction is around 90% – which is average.
Durability / longevity C+ Durability / longevity appears to be average. Within three years of ownership, 12% of owners report sagging and or softening occurring to an extent that causes discomfort.
Price b Prices range from $310-$1800 depending on model and size with the average queen costing $860. A foundation is an additional $200-$400.
Firmness variety d Sleep Science offers limited firmness options. Most owners regard their bed as medium-firm. As the mattresses wear and age, however, they may soften considerably.
Conforming ability B Sleep Science models with 5 or 7 lbs-ft density memory foam provide especially high conforming ability, meaning that they tend to provide well-distributed, cradling support.
Less (back) pain b- About 20% of owners report less (back) pain. But about 12% report increased pain usually from excessive firmness or loss of support. (See mattresses and pain relief for general analysis.)
General support C+ As is true for foam beds in general, support is neither a clear strength nor clear weakness.
Edge Support C+ Except for the Dream 8", the beds tend to provide adequate support for sitting or sleeping near the sides.
Easy to move on C- Models with higher-density, highly conforming foam can provide resistance to movement including changing positions. The lower-density models tend to provide less resistance.
Back sleep friendly b+ The beds tend to be suitable for most back sleepers.
Side sleep friendly c The tendency of the beds to have above-average firmness may result in a lack of comfort for some side sleepers.
Stomach sleep friendly b The beds tend to be suitable for most stomach sleepers.
Motion isolation a The beds perform well in regard to absorbing motion from one person so that another person on the bed is not much disturbed.
No initial odor / off gassing d+ About 11% of owners report a significant initial odor. However, the odor does not tend to be long lasting. (See memory foam off gassing for more analysis.)
No sleeping hot C- At least 7% of owners say that Sleep Science beds act as a heat trap to a significant extent.
Good for sex c Memory foam bed owners often have differing thoughts on this issue. (See mattresses and sex for analysis).
Short break in period D+ Patience may be required as break-in time is likely longer than average, especially for high-density models.
Large person friendly b Thicker models tend to suit larger people (240+ lbs). However, as is true of foam beds in general, larger people may sink considerably into the mattress.
Small person friendly c+ People who weigh less than 120 lbs may find the higher density models (those with 7 lbs-ft and 5 lbs-ft density memory foam) to lack conforming ability and pressure point relief.
No noise a- Sleep Science mattresses are silent under all conditions, but the foundation may creak or squeak.
Easy to move, handle, lift d Heavy weight is a top complaint for Sleep Science mattresses and higher-density memory foam mattresses in general. Thicker, and higher density models can weigh over 120 lbs.
Easy to maintain C+ The mattresses are "no-flip." But rotating them (from head to foot) may prevent or combat wear and sagging.
