Does a line of mattresses capable of meeting a variety of budgets and preferences backed by a quality lifetime warranty sound good? Then Nest Bedding might be for you.

But if you seek a clearly soft mattress or you are turned off by marketing hype, then you may want to look elsewhere.

All things considered, Sleep Like The Dead rates Nest Bedding a C+.

The ratings – based on 120+ consumer reviews gathered using an unbiased, accurate methodology and the estimate of Sleep Like The Dead – show how several Nest Bedding models rate compared to the average mattress.

(memory foam)
(memory foam / spring)
Owner satisfaction B B B
Owner satisfaction is helped by the fact that Nest Bedding apparently gives free toppers to customers who need them to make their mattress more comfortable. (Learn how owner satisfaction is determined.)
Affordable C+ C+ B+
$900-$1400 for Signature Series; $900-$1500 for Signature Hybrid; $400-$750 for Love & Sleep (likely the best value of the three).
Durability / longevity C+ C C
Despite the lifetime warranty, expected fair or somewhat better than fair durability / longevity on average (6-8 year average lifespan). The use of convoluted foam in the hybrid is somewhat of a durability concern.
Support C+ C+ C
Foam density & coil count are about average which tends to result in adequate support. Those over 230 lbs may find support less than ideal.
Minimizes pressure B B B-
Softer varieties of the models will tend to perform better than firmer ones.
Less (back) pain B- C+ c+
See mattress and back pain for general analysis.
Easy to move on / get up C- C- C+
Firmer varieties of the models will tend to perform better than softer ones.
Motion isolation B C- B-
While owner data is mixed on this issue for the hybrid, overall it appears to perform surprisingly poor for a mattress with pocket coils. It is possible that the plush and medium hybrid perform better than the firm on this issue.
Edge support C- C- C-
None of the models appear to perform strong in regard to offering a high degree of support when sleeping or sitting near the mattress edge. Firmer varieties of the models will tend to perform better than softer ones.
No initial odor C C C-
Neither a strength nor weakness on average.
No sleeping hot D+ C- C
Softer models will tend to retain more heat than firmer ones due to the sleeper lying lower into the mattress. For the worst performing Signature Series, no more than 15% of owners (1 in 8) report a significant problem.
Good for sex C- B+ B-
The hybrid has above-average bounce which is often preferred for sex. The Love & Sleep performs well on this issue for a foam mattress due to its fair degree of bounce, but some may still find its bounce inadequate.
No noise A B+ A
The foam models are silent, but the hybrid on occasion may clunk / creak.
Heavy person friendly B- C+ C
See mattress guide for heavy people for general analysis.
Light person friendly B- B- C-
The softest varieties will tend to perform best for people under 130 lbs. The Love & Sleep model lacks a soft variety.
Tall person friendly B+ A C-
Thicker is better for people over 6 feet as it allows them to more easily get on and off the mattress. The 10" Love & Sleep may be less than ideal.
Short person friendly C- D+ B+
Thinner is often best for shorter people as it allows them to more easily get on and off the mattress. The 10" Love & Sleep is the thinnest of the three.
No topper needed B- B- C-
The softest varieties will tend to perform best on this issue. Love & Sleep lacks a soft variety and therefore has the most potential for needing topper.
Easy to lift, handle, move B- C B
72 lbs for Signature Series; 80 lbs for Love & Sleep; 105 for Signature Hybrid. The Signature Series and Hybrid have handles / grips.
These rating are determined by averaging the above performance ratings.

Nest Bedding Company Ratings

The ratings below – based on consumer experiences and the evaluation of Sleep Like The Dead – show how Nest Bedding compares to the average mattress manufacturer.

Warranty A Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime. Most main competitors offer a 10-year warranty. Aside from this, terms are similar to those of main competitors. (See mattress warranties: what to know.)
Return policy B 100-day money-back. No preparation for return shipment is necessary, and a courier removes the mattress from your home to be recycled or donated. You must keep the mattress 30 days before being eligible for a return. After 100 days, for the remaining life of the mattress, you can exchange it at 50% of retail price.
Customer service B+ Overall, customer service is regarded by consumers to be very strong but not necessarily flawless.
Marketing accuracy D- Marketing accuracy is not a strength of Nest Bedding. More.
Access to customer reviews B+ At its website, Nest Bedding allows filterable and easy access to all customer reviews posted there, including those that are negative.
Integrity of customer reviews C- Customer ratings in total on are about 15 percentage points higher than those in total at independent sources which is somewhat higher than average. And Sleep Like The Dead has some reason to believe that reviews for previous model iterations are used as reviews for current iterations.
Specs disclosed C- By disclosing mattress specifications, a company lets consumers know what they are paying for and helps them to comparison shop. Some specs are given on, but mattress weight, overall thickness, coil count, and details on cover material often are not. Also, the hybrid reportedly uses convoluted foam for the top layer yet its illustration shows straight sheet foam.
Time in business B- Nest Bedding began in 2012 according to the BBB. While this is fairly recent, it is earlier than the start of many main competitors.
BBB rating A+ Nest Bedding has an A+ with the Better Business Bureau. Seven complaints have been filed against the company in the past three years which is about average for a mattress company its size.
OVERALL RATING C+ This rating is determined by averaging the above company ratings.

Sleep Like The Dead (SLTD) Rating for Nest Bedding

SLTD RATING C+ SLTD (Sleep Like The Dead) rating for Nest Bedding is determined by averaging the performance, specification, and company ratings. This rating shows how Nest Bedding and its mattresses perform against all other mattress companies and their mattresses.

Marketing Accuracy

Nest Bedding performs as poorly as any mattress company for marketing accuracy in the opinion of Sleep Like The Dead mainly for the following two reasons.

1. Nest Bedding on its website prominently and repeatedly makes bold yet, in the opinion of Sleep Like The Dead, largely unsubstantiated and baseless claims. These claims include:

"The Top Rated Mattress Company"
"The Top Rated Alexander Signature Series"
"The Top Rated Hybrid Online"
"The Most Comfortable Mattress on the Internet"
"The Most Comfortable and Affordable Mattress Starting at $399"
"Industry Leading Breathability and Support"
"Industry Leading Value and Comfort"

Nest Bedding in some cases attempts to substantiate these claims by referencing sources. But upon inspection, these sources seldom proclaim Nest Bedding or its mattresses to be what these claims say. And for the few sources that do, their credibility is questionable as they have or at least appear to have a financial connection to Nest Bedding. And even if credible sources did substantiate Nest Bedding's claims, this would not justify the making of such general, unqualified claims by Nest Bedding.

2. On its website, Nest Bedding prominently and repeatedly refers to several mattress review websites (and their YouTube videos) as seemingly unbiased sources of praise for its mattresses and company. Nest Bedding does not disclose that most if not all of these websites have a financial / commission relationship with Nest Bedding.
