Glossary

The Sound Oasis plays 20 main sounds and five mix sounds, which together create dozens of sound varieties. The sounds are of nature, and there are also synthesized sounds. Given that most people of sound machines listen to only a few of the sounds that the machine can produce, the appeal of having so many sound choices is of questionable value.

A nice feature is the Sleep Enhancement Technology which gradually slows playback speed to lull you to sleep. In other words, there's no abrupt halting of the sound. The machine has three speakers (including subwoofer) which create acceptable sound fidelity.

The Sound Oasis also features a backlit clock with three alarm sounds and AM/FM radio with three presets. The illuminated face is easy to read in the dark, and has three brightness settings, from a very dim to a brighter, yet still soft glow. The radio reception is good, something seldom found with sound machines.

While the product can run on batteries, it is not particularly travel friendly given its fairly large size (8.2 x 6 x 6.5 inches) and substantial weight (3.6 pounds).

The Sound Oasis appears to be made with quality materials and craftsmanship but nevertheless has fairly serious longevity issues.
