Glossary

The Obus offers ten digital recordings of various nature sounds as well as a white noise option. The sound quality of the recordings lack substantial realism and clarity, but the sounds are generally effective in masking unwanted noises. The volume control is easy to operate, and the volume of the sounds can often be made loud enough to conquer most noises.

As with other sound machines in this price range, this machine electronically "loops" a digitized 3-5 second file of each sound rather than producing a varying sound. Because of this, you may hear and be disturbed by clicking which occurs when the loop starts over depending on how sensitive your hearing is. There are two play modes for the sounds: continuous and a one-hour timer.

In regard to durability and longevity, don't expect a particularly long life from the Obus or any sound machines in this price range.

The Obus is travel friendly given its modest dimensions (1"h x 5"w x 7"d) and low weight (one pound). The ability to run on batteries also helps portability.
