Glossary

The Marsona TSC-330 uses solid state technology to create "white noise" emulating rain, waterfall and surf.

Electronics actually synthesize the nature sounds and even change slightly every few seconds to provide slight variation. This is in contrast to machines that use recordings which distractingly play the exact same thing over and over again every few seconds.

The sounds work deceptively simple in that the same sound is used for all noise, but by changing the pitch, volume and whether the sound comes and goes, you can create rain, waterfall or surf sound. The sound may not to some people seem like the real thing, but it is close to it and is, overall, superior to recorded sound in its ability to generate effective white noise.

The speaker provides good sound and can fill a room. There's little if any of the low quality, tinny, static-like noise that comes out of too many other sound devices.

Expect good durability and longevity from the Marsona. It feels like a piece of quality workmanship.

Because of its size (6" x 4" x 2") and weight (less than a pound), the Marsona is portable. However, it will only work on batteries if you get the optional battery pack, which is a separate unit and somewhat bulky. In addition, it has one of those bulky AC adapters with the power brick on the end.

The only noteworthy downside of the Marsona is that it does not have a timer.
