The DS-600A plays several nature sounds including lake shore, rain, country eve, surf, brook and waterfall.
The quality of the recordings is about average, perhaps not as good as you would expect given the Marpac's price tag. On the plus side, it's difficult to notice any looping of the sounds, and the volume can be made adequately high to mask most noises. It can operate continuously or there is a 60-min timer.
The Marpac is somewhat travel friendly and portable given its size (7.5"L X 5.125"W X 2.75"H) and weight (1.5 pounds). The fact that it can be battery powered also helps.
In regard to reliability, several owners have had trouble, including an annoying clicking sound coming from the machine every few seconds, undermining the relaxation created by the nature sounds.
