Sleeping Bag Suitability for Long Backpacking Trip -- Based on Data From Over 1,350 Actual Owners
Page last updated August 15, 2009
A long backpacking trip in our research is defined as a trip on foot of over three miles. According to actual owners, mummy sleeping bags are almost universally viewed as superior to rectangle bags for these trips because of their lower bulk and weight. Keep in mind that the chart below represents what is often, but not always, the case; a particular model may go against these findings.
