Mattress Ratings >> Memory Foam Mattresses >
Based on 2,249 Consumer Experiences

THE GOOD: Low price combined with high owner satisfaction make Spa Sensations an above-average value.
THE BAD: The mattresses are too firm for some, especially side sleepers. Durability / longevity and warranty coverage are fair at best. Substantial off gassing is possible.
THE MATTRESS: Spa Sensations (made by Zinus / imported from China) is an entry-level memory foam mattress. Like other beds in its price range, it is used by about 20% of owners on an occasional / temporary basis only.
Spa Sensations mattresses usually consist of 1-3 inches of low-density memory foam (3 lbs/ft) over supporting regular foam. See memory foam density: higher vs lower to learn about the characteristics of low-density memory foam.
THE COMPETITION: See how Spa Sensations stacks up to other value-priced memory foam mattresses in the memory foam mattress reviews – summary. Also see the Spa Sensations vs Tempur-Pedic comparison.
THE RETAILER: Walmart.com and select Wal-Mart stores are the main retailer. See buying a mattress online: what you should know.
The Spa Sensations memory foam mattress report below is based on 2,000+ consumer reviews of various models and thicknesses.
| Owner satisfaction | B | Spa Sensations foam mattresses overall have 82% owner satisfaction (). This rating is similar to that of most memory foam bed brands. |
| Durability / longevity | C- | Spa Sensations likely has about a 5-year lifespan on average with regular use. At least 15% of owners report a lifespan of less than three years. Spa Sensation's lifespan is at best half that of pricier memory foam mattresses, such as Tempur-Pedic. As the mattress ages and wears, it will sag and lose conformability and "memory" which will likely result in less support and comfort. |
| Price / affordability | A | Prices range from $130-$600 depending on model and size. A foundation and or frame is an additional cost. |
| Less pain | B | The mattresses are generally effective at pain reduction, including back pain relief. (See mattresses and pain relief for general analysis.) |
| Firmness variety | D+ | The various models and thicknesses have similar firmness (see below). The mattresses are mostly described by owners as either medium or firm. Less than 20% describe their mattress as soft. Excessive firmness is a top owner complaint. Thinner models tend to be somewhat firmer than thicker models. |
| Contours to body | b- | The 3 lbs-ft memory foam used in the comfort layer provides minimal to moderate contouring and molding to the body. |
| Easy to move on | c+ | Owners tend to report that they do not sink far into the bed and that moving on and getting up off the bed is not difficult. |
| Back sleep friendly | b | The beds tend to be suitable for back sleepers. |
| Side sleep friendly | c+ | The tendency of the mattresses to be more firm than soft may result in less than ideal comfort for some side sleepers. |
| Stomach sleep friendly | b | The beds tend to be suitable for stomach sleepers. |
| Motion isolation | a- | Like memory foam mattresses in general, Spa Sensations mattresses (especially thicker models) have good motion isolation making them couple friendly. |
| No initial odor / off gassing | C- | Off gassing is the giving off of a chemical smell. There is variability in regard to whether, how strongly and for how long Spa Sensations mattresses will off gas. (See memory foam off gassing for more analysis.) |
| No sleeping hot | c | Less than 6% of owners report sleeping hot or that their bed acts as a heat trap. |
| Good for sex | C+ | Memory foam bed owners often have a difference of opinion on this issue. (See mattresses and sex for analysis). |
| Expands fully and evenly | c | Spa Sensations mattresses come vacuum sealed and compressed. About seven percent of owners say that their mattress does not fully decompress or that it decompresses unevenly. |
| No noise | A | Foam mattresses are silent when slept on unlike some other mattress types, namely innerspring beds. |
| No rotating / flipping | B- | The mattresses are one sided which makes flipping them unnecessary. Rotating the mattress, however, may be needed occasionally to avoid uneven wear. |
| Lightweight | c+ | Thinner models are lighter and easier to move and handle than thicker models. |
| Warranty | D | Warranty length is five years which is somewhat below average compared to other mattresses in Spa Sensations' price range. Some owners report that it is difficult to successfully file a warranty claim. |
| Return policy | B+ | Spa Sensations has a 90-day return policy when purchased at Wal-Mart. The mattress can be returned to a Wal-Mart store or shipped to a Wal-Mart distribution center. |
| Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating | A+ | Zinus is the manufacturer of Spa Sensations mattresses. Zinus has an "A+" rating with the BBB. |

* The firmness description for each mattress indicates what tends to be true; an individual's evaluation of firmness may differ. Most owners describe the feel of their Spa Sensations mattress as firm yet soft – meaning that the mattress is supportive yet provides pressure point relief.
** The cover can usually be removed and machine washed in warm water, tumble dry low. Removing the cover and placing it back on the mattress may require two people.
Tempur-Pedic is often the standard by which other memory foam mattresses are judged. The table below shows how Spa Sensations compares to Tempur-Pedic beds overall based on actual consumer experiences.
