Rotating / Flipping of Mattress
While the Tempurpedic may need to be turned on occasion to encourage even wear, the manufacturer says it should not be flipped since models are typically one-sided designs.
For the Sleep Number Bed, some models allow you to turn / flip just the top of the mattress. The rest of the bed does not need to be turned or flipped.

Dust Mite Resistant / Allergies
A small number of owners of both beds report having reduced allergies since sleeping on their bed. In regard to the Sleep Number Bed, dust mites cannot enter or live in the air chambers, but they can live in and may eat on the padding of the bed. (Dust mites can cause allergies in some people.)
In regard to the Tempurpedic, the mites do not eat any of the material, but they still live inside to feed on the shedded skin cells that enter.
Sex Friendly
On the whole, this issue is not a strong point of either mattress.
A slight majority of owners of both beds, however, find them to be at least acceptable for love making.
A smaller number says that the beds enhance love making. Each bed has its own advantages and disadvantages on this issue.

Our collected owner data shows that there are somewhat more complaints for Sleep Number / Select Comfort customer service than for Tempurpedic. In addition, as shown below, the Better Business Bureau has received several complaints regarding Sleep Number Bed customer service, but it has no complaints regarding Tempurpedic customer service.

Based on current prices, the Sleep Number Bed is about 15-20% less expensive than Tempurpedic overall.

Both Sleep Number and Tempurpedic offer a significant trial period, but returning the bed may be costly.

Warranty
Both mattresses have a limited 20-year warranty, but the specifics for each are different. Tempurpedic offers non-prorated coverage for the first 10 years, while Sleep Number is less generous. Nevertheless, while the Tempurpedic warranty covers significant sagging, it will likely not cover the development of excessive softness which can be just as problematic as sagging, according to owners.
